Viliam Fedák graduated from Technical University of Kosice in 1972.
He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics (original name: Department of Electrical Drives), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, TU Košice where since 1982 he has worked in position of Associate Professor.

His fields of specialization and experience in research and teaching include:  application of modern control theory to control of electrical drives, with particular attention to multi-motor drives of continuous technological lines and to control of electromechanical systems in general. He also is an expert in advanced methods of modeling, identification, and simulation. 

Since 1992 he has served as a chairman of the Electrical Drives and Power Electronics conferences held in Slovakia (and since 2003 held alternatively bienially in Slovakia and Croatia; since 2015 it is IEEE EDPE Int. Conference,  llisted in Scopus) haing the web site: http://www.edpe.sk

In 1998- 2006 he served in Ecxecutive Council of the EPE Association (European power Elctronices and Drives Association, Brussels). He belongs among foundation members of PEMC Council (Power Electronics and Motion Control wioth the headquarter in Budaopest). He was general chairman of the EPE-PEMC 2000 International Conference - Košice (385 participants, 52 countries) and currently he is vice-chairman of the PEMC Council.

He has published more than 200 scientific papers in referred conference proceedings and journals. He is co-aothor of the bool on Elctrical Drives and numerous teachning texts and e-learning materials.
