Department history

• 1953 – Founding of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Technology.
• 1969 – Department of Electrical Drives at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Technology.
• 1997 – Laboratory of Industrial Engineering.
• 1999 – Department of Electrical Drives and Mechatronics at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University in Košice (FEI TU).
• 2003 – 50th anniversary of forming of the Department.
• 2005 – Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering (KEMPI) at FEI TU in Košice. The Department as known today, with the new name, was established on 1. 12. 2005 by merger of two former divisions:
• • Department of Electrical Drives and Mechatronics (KEPM)
  • Laboratory of Industrial Engineering (LPI)
• 2010 – Change of name of the department – Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics (KEM).
• 2013 - 60th anniversary of forming of the Department.
• 2023 - 70th anniversary of forming of the Department.

• Prof. Ing. František Poliak – from forming of the Department up till 1979, Prof. Poliak was significantly contributing to establishing of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology, and became its first Dean (1969-1971).
• Assoc. Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Timko, CSc. - during 1979-1989
• Assoc. Prof. Ing. Jozef Fedor, PhD. – during 1990 – 2003
• Assoc. Prof. Ing. Ján Fetyko, PhD. – during 2003 – 31.8.2005
• Accoc. Prof. Ing. Viliam Fedák, PhD. – during 1.9.2005 – 30.11.2005 (appointed to head the department)
• Assoc. Prof. Ing. Michal Girman, PhD. – since 1.12.2005 – 28.2.2013
• Prof. Ing. Daniela Perduková, PhD. – since 1.3.2013
  

Laboratory of Industrial Engineering was, since it’s establishing in 1997 till 1999 administered by Ing. Peter Košč, PhD., to be followed by Assoc. Prof. Ing. Michal Girman, PhD. in the period between 2000 and 1.12.2005.
