Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems
Recommended Semester of Study
1st Level of Study, 2nd Year, Summer Semester
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will become familiar with the design and properties of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They will be able to read pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, design and practically assemble pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, implement electrical control systems, and program computer-based control systems. Students will be able to identify and troubleshoot faults in circuits and will gain practical skills through hands-on work with pneumatic and hydraulic components.
Brief Course Outline
- Fundamentals of pneumatic system theory.
- Generation, distribution, and conditioning of compressed air.
- Pneumatic actuators (motors).
- Pneumatic control components (directional control valves).
- Design of pneumatic systems.
- Drawing of pneumatic schematics.
- Computer-aided design of pneumatic circuits.
- Sequential control of multiple actuators.
- Electropneumatic systems.
- Control of pneumatic systems using programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
