Control Systems with Programmable Logic Controllers
Recommended Semester of Study
2nd Level of Study, 1st Year, Summer Semester
Learning Outcomes
Students will expand their theoretical knowledge in the field of programmable logic controller (PLC) programming and gain practical experience through solving selected control system tasks. They will also learn how to design advanced control algorithms for electric drives, develop appropriate visualization interfaces, and understand the fundamental principles of machinery safety.
Brief Course Outline
- Review of the basic concepts and definitions related to programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Introduction to the hardware capabilities of electric motor control using programmable logic controllers and their integration into assembly line control systems.
- Hardware interfacing of an electric drive with a programmable logic controller.
- Basic logic control function blocks.
- Basic control modes for electric motors (speed control mode, position control mode, current control mode).
- Application of state machines to electric motor control.
- Development of a comprehensive control program for electric motor control with visualization.
- Fundamental principles of safety in the control of electric drives
