Computer Applications
Recommended Semester of Study
1st Level of Study, 1st Year, Winter Semester
Learning Outcomes
The course focuses on teaching numerical and graphical methods and techniques using MATLAB for various scientific and application areas. Students will gain an overview of fundamental methods and procedures applicable to mathematics, physics, and automatic control theory, as well as their use in the modeling and control of industrial processes. Through practical laboratory exercises, students will acquire skills in numerical computation, graphical presentation and visualization techniques, as well as in the development of their own program modules and functions.
Brief Course Outline
- MATLAB as an interactive environment for scientific and engineering computations, basic MATLAB components, and operating modes.
- Matrix operations, solving systems of linear and nonlinear equations.
- String processing, working with polynomials and functions, importing data from Excel.
- Data visualization using 2D, 3D, and specialized graph types; printing, saving, and exporting graphs.
- Creation of scripts and M-functions (control flow statements).
- Creation of scripts and M-functions (input/output commands).
- Interfacing applications using the DDE interface.
- Simulink as a tool for modeling dynamic systems, MATLAB–Simulink integration.
