Automotive mechatronics
Recommended Semester of Study
1st Level of Study, 1st Year, Summer Semester
Learning Outcomes
Students will gain knowledge of the operating principles of the main mechatronic systems used in vehicles, their simulation models, and the simulation tools employed in this field, including real-time simulators and their integration into vehicle control systems. They will acquire fundamental knowledge and practical experience in the analysis, design, measurement, and diagnostics of CAN and LIN communication networks in vehicles.
Brief Course Outline
- Mathematical models of vehicle mechatronic systems: traction systems, braking systems, and vehicle stability control systems.
- Modeling of various vehicle propulsion systems: internal combustion engines, electric motors, hybrid powertrains, fuel cells, and energy management systems.
- Simulation of driving cycles, analysis of fuel consumption, and emissions.
- Basic communication standards used in automobiles: CAN, LIN, MOST, and FlexRay.
- Measurement and analysis of CAN and LIN communication in a vehicle and its simulator.
- Real-time simulation of vehicle dynamics. Integration of the simulator with a real vehicle.
- Vehicle power measurement using a MAHA chassis dynamometer.
